iPhone 4 regains sight
After two years of massive usage of my iPhone 4 without any kind of protection or cover (I like it “naked”), the camera lens starts to opacify all my shots. This annoying issue was due to several, and I mean a lot, scratches on the lens, which is plastic made and is not glass as the entire back cover.
I had two choices, completely replace the back cover (40€+) or try to find only the replacement for the lens. Two hours later, I ordered my spare part on this site for only 7€, shipping fees included.
After a week of waiting, thanks to the mighty italian postal service, I received my little package. The whole replacement process is very simple; you have to remove the two little screws on the bottom of the iPhone and slide up the back cover.
Then, with a small cutter you have to gently flip the corner of the lens and take it away (usually it’s simpler with the top left corner, where there is a tip of glue). You can install the new one following backwards those instructions.
In the image above you can evaluate the extension of the scratches, compared to the brand new lens. After the replacement the iPhone seems like new, as you can see.
For precision’s sake, I attached a sample before/after shot.
- before, original lens with two years of life
- after, brand new lens
Small expense, result guaranteed!
