Double-click in AutoCAD 2012 for Mac…a workaround
Are you an architect and you’re using the latest release of AutoCAD 2012 for Mac OS X Lion? If so, I suppose you’re quite disappointed you can’t double click on your DWGs and let them open in AutoCAD automatically. Developers say that’s a known bug and they don’t have a valid workaround yet.
I realised this simple application which works as a middleware between your files and the main CAD app. You just have to download this lightweight app and put it anywhere you like (I suggest the main Autodesk path of your AutoCAD installation, in your Application folder).
Second and last step is to associate all your DWGs with the downloaded application[*].
Now you can double click on one or more files at the same time and open them all together in the main window of AutoCAD 2012.
[*] remember: it’s easy to set a default app for a specific type of file: Cmd+I on one of your DWG, in the “Open with” menu choose my app and press the “Change All” button.
